The WA State Department of Health (DOH) directed us to install a chlorination system in August 2024. The system will have its own shed to house/mix chlorine and a metering pump to inject the disinfectant into the water supply.
In November, 2025, the PLWA Board signed a construction contract with TRICO to install the chlorination system.
The DOH is requiring us to maintain a detectable residual disinfectant concentration of at least 0.2 mg/L (0.2 parts per million) throughout the distribution system, record the chlorine level five days a week, and to report this data monthly. To support and to automate these requirements, in March, 2026 the Board approved an engineering proposal from FACET to design a chlorine data analyzer system. In April 2026, FACET performed an on-site visit to determine the location of the chlorine data analyzer system.
